Redding Dirt Riders - Shasta Dam Poker Run 2003: January 18th 2003

There was a huge crowd for the Poker Run today with the ATV world very well represented. Not only from our own club members but from people we had never seen. 

The ride was pretty challenging, with many hill climbs that were not only steep, but rutted and off-camber.

The creeks were running very deep due to all the rain, but us quad guys had no trouble at all. (Dodging downed and drowned motorcycle riders was a common occurrence).

They med-evacuated a few people off the mountain today with broken bones, but our only fatality was David Ledbetters front rim. (Anyone need a pretzel?)

This was little Ram's first Poker Run. I have ridden this for the last 4 years and never won a prize. He drew a flush today and got 3rd pick at the prize table.

Al drew a nice straight, (we left before he drew his prize, I wonder if he got that new riding jersey he was drooling on?)

Many of the guys had pairs, so they probably won some chain lube or oil or such.
